A New Product Had No Sales History. It Still Needed Packaging Tiers.

How a launch quantity and annual range made an early packaging quote more useful.

The situation

A new product needed packaging pricing before anyone could know its mature annual demand.

What complicated it

A single small quantity would show launch economics but not the potential cost at scale. An aggressive annual forecast could produce an attractive price that the buyer was not ready to order or store.

How the question was approached

The buyer supplied a realistic first run and an estimated annual range. Several practical tiers showed how unit economics might change without turning the forecast into a commitment. SKU count and artwork versions remained visible rather than being blended into one optimistic total.

What a buyer should know

  • Quote the launch and the possible program separately.
  • Use ranges when history does not exist.
  • Break usage out by size and artwork.
