When to use it

Use it when a co-packer, private-label manufacturer, food manufacturer, or procurement team needs a backup or alternate source.

What you need

  • Current package or sample
  • Dimensions and usage
  • Artwork or dieline
  • Roll and machine information when applicable

Worked example

A buyer may have the sample, artwork, annual usage, and target timing but no verified structure. The checklist identifies that structure as missing without blocking the conversation.

Common mistakes

  • Treating a package photo as a verified specification
  • Assuming current machine facts are unchanged
  • Calling the percentage a technical approval

Buyer questions

Do I need every item before contacting a supplier?

No. Send what you have. The missing list helps the buyer and supplier focus the next discovery step.

Does this qualify a second source?

No. It organizes information only. Technical and commercial qualification still requires the responsible teams.
